Quote of the day: "Do not worry about your problems in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater."- Albert Einstein
I'm not sure if I've bitched about this before here at Battle Ready; God knows I've gone on and on about it at various points in my life, and I can't really be bothered with remembering if I'm repeating myself or not. Here's the thing: I hate math. I hate Mathematics. So much. I just... I hate it so much.
Now, I understand its importance in everything. Literally, everything. Mathematics is beautifully entwined in every facet of life, from nature to science to even religion. I can appreciate the commentary on a great and true formula, and the story it tells. The route taken through numbers, only to be amazed at where the journey ends. That's all great and fine and good, but I don't really want to go there.
I am grateful that there are people who love it. People that wake up in the middle of the night and furiously jot down theorems that were hinted at in sleep, only to feel that they are one step away from truth. I like thinking that somewhere, someone is discovering the inherent beauty in Mathematics and what it holds true.
I even envy those people. Mathematics is sunshine, and I am just a sorry leper watching people play on the beach. I see that people enjoy it, and I know that it is good; it just hurts so damn much.
And I know that whomever wrote the problems in my homework from tonight hates people like me, and enjoys imagining my torture.

Smallstar April 5, 2008 05:38 AM PDT I hate math!! :(
Beth April 5, 2008 01:39 AM PDT We are SO on the same page.
I like to think of myself as "mathematically challenged".
If my life actually depended on it, I probably would have been dead in high school.
I loathe it.
Just sayin'.
Deirdre April 4, 2008 04:34 PM PDT I've been meaning to ask you...
What's your problem, anyway?
ChristinaL April 4, 2008 02:07 PM PDT HAHA John!! I always get a kick out of his comments.
Wow and this is beautiful!
I might have to save it!
susan April 4, 2008 11:35 AM PDT Math has always been my tormentor. I was lousey at Math in school and am worse now. Math boggles my mind so much that I must use a calcuator or my fingers / toes for even the simplest calculations. Math befuddles me so much that at times I don't even trust the calculator because of the obvious -- operator error.
I feel your angst.
AbbyNormal April 4, 2008 11:30 AM PDT Don't feel bad. 4 out of 3 people have problems with fractions.
J f Z April 4, 2008 04:26 AM PDT Inform your math prof that, unlike him, you have to pass a drug test in order to get a college education, and you would appreciate some slack in the stoner art of numbers and theorems.
Thoughts, rants, dramas, provocations, communications... you are welcome here until I tell you that you aren't.
Why I get love ('I love me' section):
I'm a hilarious, handsome, well-endowed, romantic, witty, charming, talented, accomplished, professional, highly decorated, honorable, loyal, courageous, athletic, suitably when justifiably violent, mischevious, mature, immature, humble when necessary, determined, apathetic, laid back, highest genius, who has a low opinion of himself despite his obvious awesomeness.
What People Are Saying:
"Okay okay okay. Here's the thing.. Sinja's alarm clock is the entire Master of Puppets album. He doesn't wake up until the last note is played. And after that, Sinja eats a bowl of razorblades and Wild Turkey. Washed down with an ice cold glass of lava. Sinja defies physical properties."- TheSarge
